Play has been suspended at the Allstate Sugar Bowl/LHSAA Baseball State Championships in Sulphur.
Thursday’s Class 3A semifinal game between Berwick and Sterlington was suspended in the top of the fourth, still scoreless.
Thursday’s Class 5A West Monroe-Barbe game was among the postponements.
Ouachita Christian, a 3-1 winner over Central Catholic on Wednesday, is scheduled to play Opelousas Catholic for the Division IV state championship Friday at 3 p.m.
A revised tournament schedule is expected to be released early Thursday evening.
Unfortunately, the weather is only expected to get worse over the next two days. Thursday night’s forecast calls for an 80 percent chance of heavy rain and lightning, and up to four inches of rain on Friday. The chance of rain for both Friday and Saturday was listed at 90 percent as of Thursday afternoon.
With flash flooding expected, sandbag stations are being set up around Sulphur.
