U.S. Sen. Bill Cassidy recently announced that Jacob Albritton, of Monroe, was one of 11 students who received his nomination to one of America’s Service Academies and have accepted appointments.

These students will enter the Class of 2023 at the U.S. Military, Naval, Air Force and Merchant Marine Academies.

Upon graduation, they will become commissioned officers in the Armed Forces.

Albritton, a graduate of St. Frederick High School in Monroe, was appointed to the U.S. Military Academy.

To attend a service academy, a student must obtain a nomination, most of which are provided by members of Congress.

Students can apply to attend a service academy in their senior year of high school.
