The Wellspring’s Domestic Violence Program Manager Pearline Badger was named Advocate of the Year by the Louisiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence (LCADV) at its annual reception, A Celebration of Excellence: Standing Together Against Domestic Violence earlier this month in Baton Rouge.

Survivors of domestic violence and those who work to support them every day were honored at the reception.

Valerie Bowman, director of The Wellspring’s Domestic Violence program and the Family Justice Center of Ouachita Parish said, “I had the honor of giving the Advocate of the Year to a Wellspring employee at the LCADV reception honoring champions and allies in the movement to end domestic violence.

“Ms. Pearline loves her job. She empowers survivors of domestic violence to break the cycle by showing them love and concern. She never backs down and advocates for them whatever the circumstances.”

As Program Manager, Badger oversees shelter operations for the only domestic violence safe shelter in Ouachita Parish.

She has been employed with The Wellspring since 2006.

During this time, she worked full-time will also earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice.
