In 1621, the Plymouth Colonists, better known as the Pilgrims, were so thankful for all their blessings, freedom, a wonderful harvest, their friendship with the Wampanoag Indians, that they celebrated with an autumn Harvest Festival — now our very own Thanksgiving. Mike and I agree with Andy Rooney about the way we have by passed Thanksgiving. It is all about Christmas: money, money, money, buy, buy, buy. It is frantic time of the year. Thanksgiving is a national holiday and deserves more respect. We Americans need to fall on our knees and give thanks for all our many blessings.
America… “My country, tis of the Sweet land of Liberty of the I sing; Land where my fathers died, Land of the pilgrims’ pride, From every mountain side let freedom ring.
“My native country, thee, Land of the noble free, Thy name I love; I love the rocks and rills, Thy woods and templed hills, My heart and rapture thrills Like that above…
“Let music swell the breeze, and ring from all the trees Sweet Freedom’s song; Let mortal tongues awake; Let all that breathe partake; Let rocks their silence break, The sound prolong.
“Our fathers’ God to thee, Author of Liberty, To thee we sing, Long may our land be bright With freedom’s holy light, Protect us by thy might Great God our King… ”
We should all be singing this for Thanksgiving!

Time to say goodbye to my dear old friend SUZANNE BROWN. We have been friends for the last 50-plus years. I talked to her most every day over the years, sometimes twice a day. Oh what memories, birthing our children, burying our parents and grandparents, divorce, rehab, marriage, weddings, divorce, raising our children, parties, hunting, gossiping, holidays, clubs. Yes, there is a big void in my everyday doings! I remember when my little sister, Rebo told my Grandmother Lela, that she had no friends. Lela told her not to worry because all her friends were dead. I’m not there yet. I still have a few close ones left. As GEORGIA STREET told me, “Dianne, you need to get some younger friends!” Love and all blessings to her beloved family… Jerry, Susan, Jerry Jr., Brown, Hart, Tripp and Garrison. With the love of Christ and happy memories there is peace.
Enter into his gates with THANKSGIVING and into his courts with Praise. Be thankful unto him and bless his name. For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations…
